Does UCF automatically consider you for scholarships? ›

All first-year students are automatically considered for a merit-based scholarship. There is a scholarship application process for transfer students. Scholarships are offered to students who meet academic performance criteria.

The Office of Student Financial Assistance does not award scholarships for non-U.S. citizens. However, the office lists various scholarship opportunities for non-US citizens on the Scholarship page. To search for additional scholarships, please visit the International Scholarship website.

Freshman Provost Award

One of our most prestigious scholarships, the Provost Award is offered to Florida residents with outstanding academic credentials.

If you are awarded a merit scholarship, you will receive an official letter in the mail with details on your scholarship.

As a National Merit Scholarship recipient, you are required to complete at least 24 UCF credit hours and earn a UCF G.P.A. of at least a 3.2 at the end of the spring semester.

The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program can cover up to 100% of tuition if you qualify. The scholarship is open to students with a 2.75 GPA, but you can receive more funding if you have a 3.0 GPA. Students must complete the Florida Financial Aid Application to be considered.

Financial Aid Statistics for University of Central Florida

The average need-based scholarship or grant awarded to first-year students at University of Central Florida was $7,245. Additionally, 50% of first-year students received need-based financial aid in fall 2021.

Scholars Day is an invitation-only program designed for our highest-achieving admitted students. This special day brings together UCF administration, faculty, staff and students for a glimpse of what it's like to be a freshman at one of the most innovative universities in the nation.

Colleges may give some scholarships automatically when a student meets their academic and test score requirements. Others may require the student to submit essays and letters of recommendation, attend a formal interview, or demonstrate their talent in a particular niche through an audition or portfolio review.

Most automatic merit scholarships are based on a combination of the student's GPA or a combination of ACT score or SAT score and GPA. Many colleges use a grid to determine automatic merit scholarships.

There is no separate application for our merit-based scholarships, as all admitted freshman students who apply by the priority deadline and receive their decision on our February Decision Day are considered for these scholarships. The criteria used are the same holistic criteria used in our admissions decisions.

Some scholarship programs are specific to a particular university, while others are sponsored by non-profits or local companies. While some scholarship awards are need-based, many are given based on academic, artistic, or athletic merit.
